Senator McGarrigle announces $369,146.95 in Fire & EMS Grants

Harrisburg – State Senator Tom McGarrigle (R-26) announced today that $369,146.95 in grants will be provided to Fire and EMS Companies that serve the 26th Senate District. The money is provided through the State’s Fire Company Volunteer and Ambulance Grant Program. The FCVASGP provides grants for volunteer and career fire, volunteer ambulance and rescue companies.

“It is critical that our state government provide funding to our local Fire and EMS companies to help protect the lives, homes, and properties in our communities. We need to be certain that our firefighters and EMS technicians, the majority of which are volunteers, have the resources necessary for proper training, advanced equipment and modern facilities.”

Eligible organizations may utilize the grant funding for a combination of up to two projects in the following categories:

  • Facilities – Construction and/or renovation of the fire company’s or ambulance service’s facility and purchase or repair of fixtures and furnishings necessary to maintain or improve the capability of the company to provide fire, ambulance and rescue services.
  • Equipment – Purchase or repair of firefighting, ambulance or rescue equipment.
  • Debt reduction – Debt reduction associated with the facility (1) or equipment (2) categories above.
  • Training – Training and certification of members.

In total 22 fire companies and 8 ambulance companies will receive this grant funding in the 26th Senate District, covering portions of both Chester and Delaware Counties. The companies receiving the grants are:
