CLIFTON HEIGHTS – Senator McGarrigle and Representative Jamie Santora tour the newly completed installation of a precast pedestrian tunnel and storm cross pipe at the SEPTA Secane Train Station. Rail services were suspended over the Memorial Day weekend to allow for sections of the track to be removed for installation of the new pedestrian tunnel. With the work completed on schedule, the station was returned to service for the first train on Tuesday morning.
The pedestrian tunnel is part of Phase 2 in the Secane Station Project that includes a full modernization of the facility including a new fully ADA accessible station with high-level platforms that feature canopies and shelters, and a new station building. Relocating the platform away from the intersection will result in improved traffic flow on Providence Rd. and South Ave.
Senator McGarrigle commented, “It’s great to see this project moving forward quickly. The Secane Station and the surrounding area will greatly benefit from these improvements.”
