McGarrigle to Serve on Five Key Senate Committees in New Legislative Session

Harrisburg –State Senator Tom McGarrigle (R-26) today was appointed to five key Senate committees as the 2017-18 legislative session gets underway.

In addition to chairing the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee, which was previously announced, Senator McGarrigle will serve on the Senate Rules and Executive Nominations Committee, which reviews bills amended by the House of Representatives as well as nominations made by the governor.

The senator will also be a member of the Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee, which oversees gaming and efforts to promote job creation in Pennsylvania, among other issues. In addition, he will serve on the Local Government and Banking and Insurance committees.

“The new two-year legislative session will feature many challenges as well as opportunities for the General Assembly and the Commonwealth, and I look forward to tackling those issues through my work on these committees,” said McGarrigle. “Committees are where bills are initially vetted and public hearings are held on major issues. These committee assignments will put me at the center of some important deliberations and debates.”
